The return of the gyro fry, what I'm looking at on eBay, a tiny monologue about Rob Rausch
Hi, all. It’s February as of writing, which is a month. Welcome.
(My note to myself in the original version right here just says: [bad bunny super bowl]. And that’s really all there is to say about that, isn’t there? I loved every perfect little second.
For those with inquiring minds, this is the only interesting discourse around the cultural meaning of artist selections I’ve seen this year. Food for thought.)
Little j’s of February:
Getting let off with a warning and not a ticket teehee!!!
Lunchbox coming out of her shell when we had an extended field trip due to the ice storm
Spindrift pink lemonade
Monopoly Deal. I know I’m not the first person to say this, but they really found a way to improve on original Monopoly tenfold. I think it’s so cool some people’s brains can work that way to figure out how to make a game so much better.
Finally: ALERT ALERT. The gyro fries of Channel 13 fame have been located on DoorDash, thus freeing them from the bounds of The Fair and into the regular world of Thursdays. Nashville users can locate them at Music City Gyro #3.
Button Covers
Latest eBay search obsession: button covers. I’m working on locating a few things to add to my wardrobe that don’t cost much or take up room, and my attention has landed on button covers. Haven’t pulled the trigger on anything yet but what a fun idea?? I’m imagining spicing up some little cardigans.

Traitors
Rob Rausch, the man that you are. I think you probably are all the less-than-great things that people say about you, and I also think you are probably going to win this game. I hope you do, anyway. [Written as of February 23rd]. I feel inspired watching you be a Traitor. I didn’t even mean to start this segment as if I was writing a letter to you, but that’s how strong your gravity is—I’m Dear Basketball-ing you. Thanks for representing homeschooled kids the best they’ve ever been shown.
I’ve been watching Love Island All Stars, and there’s been a lot of drama recently. One of the contestants, Lucinda, just stole Belle’s man and has been super smug and annoying about it. Belle’s been pretty put out about this, and has taken every opportunity to dunk on and call out Lucinda. When Lucinda’s sole friend in the villa tried to stand up for her, Belle had this barn burner:

And lord, if I don’t want to get that tattooed. My mom would kill me, for starters. And there are many, many better decisions I could make. But look—I ain’t that big a woman.
I ain’t that big a woman. I thought about this the other day Lindsey Vonn broke her leg while competing in the Olympics at 41 on a torn ACL and a rebuilt knee. Lots of chatter online about it, that she took a spot from a younger and more qualified athlete, that it was a selfish choice to compete, that it set a bad example. And you know what? Frick that. She is one of the most decorated athletes in her sport, and she wanted more from her career, and she took it, and she sacrificed her body for it. We force people, and especially women, to sacrifice their bodies for far dumber things. Adorning the world in a specific and never-attainable way. Money for Jeff Bezos to get more hormone therapy or whatever he wants his marginal billions for. The pleasure of violent men. We are in fact so accustomed to forcing women to break their bodies for the needs and desires of others, that even the liberal among us are clutching pearls at a professional athlete breaking her body in pursuit of her own desires.
And look, two things can be true. I don’t know much about how Olympic sports work. Maybe there were other, younger, more qualified athletes waiting in the wings. Maybe it was selfish. I am just saying: women are allowed to be selfish sometimes. We are not all that big of women, not all the time.

ok thanks for joining friends. Send book recommendations that would be good for traveling in Europe—I want something that feels kind of on-theme you know? I’ll chat with y’all later <3

Button covers!!!!!!!! I don’t have many buttons to cover I don’t think? But I’m happy they exist.
I read The Pairing by Casey McQuiston last year and it absolutely made me want to go on a tour around Europe. Two exes end up in the same tour group and have a competition to prove they’re over each over. Would recommend if you want a lighthearted read!
Hope you have a blast on your trip!!!
